note from the editor, Mike Stainton, that reports on the current state of the
CCP and its activities. It features a report titled “China – From Peril to
Pearl?” by Harvey Steele, which gives an analysis of the progress being made in
China and the position of the Church therein. It also includes “Shoes Off but
City Bound…” by Sue Cole-King that addresses problems in the healthcare system
that have been addressed in China, especially for rural areas. It also includes
an extensive news section. It also includes the Amnesty International Report on
China of 1975-1976, focusing on the state of the legal system and treatment of
political dissidents. The issue also includes a summary of resources available
on theological approaches to China, compiled by Michael S. Stainton.
