CAWG Currents 17.1 (1995)

This issue is the submission prepared for the 51st session of the UN Commission on Human Rights. It covers the Indigenous Peoples in Asia and the Pacific cause at the UN (1994-1995), including the assault on Indigenous Peoples and culture, human rights abuses, chronic marginalization and poverty, denial of self-determination and human rights abuses with recommendations. It also includes a feature on migrants workers and UN action in that area, surveying labour migration, the right of peoples to remain in their homeland, prevention and elimination of illegal migration, exploitation and abuses of migrant workers, and the protection and welfare of migrant workers, along with recommendations. The issue also deals with the right to development, providing a history of the debate and its issues, identifies obstacles to the realization of the right to development with suggestions. It also includes country-specific reports on East Timor, Indonesia, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka.
