This issue
comprises the submission to the 41st session of the UN Commission on
Human Rights. For the Philippines, it gives a summary of patterns of human
rights violations, including election issues, violence against public
demonstrations, assaults against the labour sector, political killings,
disappearances, arrests and arbitrary searches, forced evacuations and
demolitions, and assaults against women. Concerning South Korea, it covers the
political and economic situation, the state of education, the situation of the
Church, reunification and peace, and freedom of the press and expression. For
Sri Lanka, it gives a general overview of the human rights situation. Regarding
Indonesia and East Timor, CAWG reports on military offensives and death squads,
executions of political prisoners, transmigration, and harassment of the
Church. Each report concludes with action recommendations.
