This issues introduces
the Canada China Program, its goals and its members. It begins by answering
questions including the reasons for its creations, which groups support or fund
the group, the genesis of the program through the Canadian Council of Churches,
and the goals of the program. It also briefly introduces the newsletter itself
and its goals to search news and featured articles. It then lists resources of
Canadian groups working for understanding and friendship with China. It then
features a report title “Learning from China” by the Asia Regional Office of
the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) on China’s economic development
and reform. It includes news of other Canadian operations and groups, gives a
summary of the activities of the Canada China Program, and discusses the work
of China Associates.
