In this issue, the CCP
begins with a report “Notes on the Theological Meaning of China” by Larry
Burkholder (Mennonite, Goshen College), which explores the paradox presented by
China’s Communist government and the reforms enacted in China;(it even argues
that there are many analogies between Christianity and the PRC ideologies, but
also acknowledges the major differences between the two. It then provides a
resource list for magazines about China and news on organizations and
developments. It includes a report titled “Canada in the Chinese Press,” which
examines the coverage of Canada in China and attitudes towards news coming out
of Canada. It concludes with a report of activities of the Canada China
Program.
