The issue opens with an
introduction from the editor, explaining that the issue will focus on the
foreign policy of China. It begins with an analysis of Chairman Mao’s
understanding of the three economic worlds and how these world interact. It
also provides an explanation of China’s eight principles for foreign aid and
provides other brief reports on developments of foreign policy in China,
including relations with Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the West. A longer text by
Michael Stainton, titled “Vietnam, China and the Ethnic Chinese”, which
examines the conditions of Vietnamese refugees in China.
